Extensions are one of those things where the "best" method really depends on you — your hair type, your lifestyle, and how much maintenance you're happy to commit to. Here's how tapes and nano bonds compare.
Tape extensions
Tape-ins are applied in thin, flat sections that sandwich your natural hair between two wefts. They're quick to fit, lie flat against the head, and are a great option if you're after length and volume without a lot of ongoing maintenance. They typically need moving up every 6 to 8 weeks as your hair grows, and they're a good choice if this is your first time trying extensions. If you have thick hair, tapes can be the better option too, since each piece gives more bulk and coverage, so you need fewer of them to get a full, blended result.
Nano bonds
Nano bonds use tiny, discreet keratin bonds attached strand by strand, which makes them a great fit for finer hair or anyone wanting extensions that are virtually undetectable, even with hair worn up. They give a really natural movement and can be more comfortable to sleep in than some other methods, though the application takes longer and they usually need a little more careful home care.
Which one for you?
If you want something quicker to fit and easy to live with, tapes are usually the answer. If you have fine hair or want the most seamless, undetectable result, nano bonds tend to be the better fit. I always do a proper consultation before any extension fitting so we can talk through your hair's condition and what you actually want day-to-day — that's the best way to land on the right method for you, rather than guessing from a blog post alone.
Still unsure, or want to talk it through in person? Book in for a consultation and we can figure out the best fit together.
