Walking down the haircare aisle after a colour appointment can be overwhelming — there's a lot on the shelf promising to be the one thing your hair needs. So here's what I'd actually recommend spending your money on, and what you can skip.
Worth it
A sulphate-free shampoo and conditioner is the single biggest investment you can make in your colour's longevity — it genuinely makes the difference between colour fading in two weeks and colour holding for six. A weekly deep conditioning treatment or mask is worth adding too, especially if you've had any lightening done, since it keeps the hair feeling strong rather than straw-like. And a proper heat protectant spray, used every single time you style with heat, pays for itself many times over.
Nice to have
Wella Color Fresh Masks are a lovely top-up between appointments — they come in a whole range of shades, so whatever colour you've had done, from cool blondes to rich brunettes to vibrant fashion tones, there's usually one that works for you. Used once a week or so, they refresh tone and add a bit of shine without being essential for everyone.
Not necessary
You don't need a huge routine or a cabinet full of products. A lot of "miracle" products are more marketing than results. If in doubt, less is more — three good products used consistently will always outperform ten used occasionally.
